Hi,

just bought a house and the shower ( Mira evente XS) doesn’t work.

it makes a very loud buzzing sound.

if the heat and power are low, it flows. As soon as the heat is increased, it stops flowing.

if I turn the power dial, it just buzzes more loudly! No extra flow.

I was thinking of just installing a new one, but not sure if it’s another issue which a new unit won’t solve.

Any idea as to what has gone wrong and if a new unit will fix it?

thanks

Good evening Dylan,

What’s the flow rate like in the rest of the house? Make sure your stopcock is open fully, any valves to it are open fully and make sure some clown hasn’t plumber it from a cold water storage cistern. I would check call of these before going changing anything.

This is a cistern fed unit

flow is just fine but I note that the water does indeed come down from the roof. Two chrome pipes come down from the ceiling. Sink feeds up.

I can’t get in the loft at the mo but I know there is a water tank there.

I’m a bit confused as to why there are two pipes going in. Surely it takes cold and makes it hot! Or is one steel conduit for the electrics?

It's a shower with integral pump that uses low pressure hot and cold feeds

Ok many thanks.

now that I’m in the picture, any idea why I am experiencing the issues above?

- power just makes the buzzing louder
- I get a trickle at the coldest setting
-as soon as heat increases I get nothing at all

Doesn’t seem to make sense

I refer you to terryplumb’s post above

right so if I fitted a new unit. It should work right?

Would this be beyond a fairly confident DIY er who knows how to isolate power?

Actually, cutting off mains water won’t stop it coming out. Methinks I might need a plumber

Its kaput ,shot ,knackered ,goosed.
