Baxi won't stay on after pump change

There is a good chance that your cold feed will not look like that though, they all do the same thing but lots have a sort of U bend under the main pipe

Hi guys, an update. Pipe cut, blockage cleared and all put back together. Fired up hot water and central heating. Have hot water. Have hot radiators upstairs, but nothing happening downstairs. Been trying the balancing trick of closing upstairs rads, but it's not really having any effect. Any idea's? Hoping not another blockage Thank you

Completely closed the lock shields on all upstairs rads, and the downstairs ones are now red hot, so do I fully open the upstairs ones again, or just half turn?

Try placing a screwdriver tip on the lock shield with the screwdriver handle on your ear. You'll hear the water come through.At that point, do little else except enjoy the warmth.

Is it possible I have bought an unsuitable pump? Flomasta. Got a feeling after reading review on Amazon that it might be under powered at 25/130?

Seems to me like a balancing issue, if you’ve messed with all the lockshield valves, it may be time to start again. I think there’s wiki/faq on here about balancing.

And unless you cleaned out the f&e then any crud that was in it before clearing the cold feed is now in the system too!

you shouldnt have touched the L/S valves, you have replaced a pump that you didnt need, a mid position valve that you didnt need and have now unbalanced your system

Ok and there I was thinking I was getting advice from genuine people. For your information, on examining the old pump, it was knackered. The changeover valve was also jammed solid. The F and E was emptied and all the slimey crap flushed down the bog and tank cleared. One of you advised the balancing, which apparently now is bulls**t. Cheers guys, but by all means carry on giggling if it make you happy

Claire, if you have cleared the blockage from the F&E tank, you should find that the radiators bleed well, rather than just a trickle......how do you find them?
The water that comes out hopefully isn't too black
Its always a good move to add a quality inhibitor to the system which prevents internal rusting (black gunge).
Regarding lockshields, turn them 1/2 to 3/4 turn from fully off - a surprisingly small amount.
