I don't understand why Winston has such an aversion to lighting circuits on what I believe the most popular size cable to use on lighting circuits. Especially as, generally speaking, the cost of 1.5mm² T&E is frequently negotiated down below the cost of 1.0mm² T&E.
He says rude things about people who adopt such a price-based practice - as he does in relation to people who use FCUs because they are usually cheaper than DP switches!

Kind Regards, John

I never say rude things. Perhaps you are thinking of someone else.

Whether it is the most popular size I don’t know. But it is unnecessary and a waste of the planets valuable resources of copper.

In this particular case it will enable the OP to get all his cables down one ‘conduit’ which he perhaps cannot do with the larger unnecessary cable.

Maybe, maybe not but the way I read it he has already wasted the earths resources by sourcing the cable and to prevent wasting any more [resources and money] he seems quite happy adding the additional length of tube with the added advantage there is spare capacity for future alterations. I make that win, win, win at minimal additional cost to install a perfectly normal system.

I suppose that depends upon what one regards as rude. People who adopt such a practice might regard it as 'rude' when someone says of them ...

Please explain why you think anyone other than a “cowboy” would suggest using an incorrect component just because it is very slightly cheaper.
