These ridge tiles were installed today. It doesn't look right to me. Can anyone confirm something's gone wrong? Thanks.

As long as the roll was installed underneath, looks totally normal

Why do you say it doesn't look right to you?

I've never seen a ridge before where you can see daylight between the tiles (but I don't actually go around looking for it).
Also all the promotional material for this system, and others, don't show daylight between the tiles. However, maybe that's because they only show the job from an angle, not fully side on. I thought the 'universal unions' were meant to be molded around the inside of the tile; if this was done, there would be no gap visible.

Easy trim is cheap crap to be honest with you. The unions are not sturdy in the slightest.

Whoever done this didn't do the job right. They unions need to have a small plastic clip inserted at the top and by the looks of it they never bothered using it.

It will leak eventually.

The clips are all there and fitted properly.
You will see daylight through that type of system, fitted thousands but not on slate.

It's not fitted properly....

and it would look the same on tiles with the way it was done. The unions should not be pushed down like that.

You do know those pics you posted are the same just from different angles?

From the ops pic the clips are there , it's just not a very clear pic

Thanks guys. Right, I've had another look and researched on the web. All the systems I've seen have battens, usually two 50x25 one on top of the other, fixed along the ridge by means of brackets secured to the rafters. I've had an answer from the manufacturers that the purpose of the battens is a) to lay the felt up against, and b) provide a strong fixing for the ridge tiles. Now, on my newly repaired roof, these battens appear to be missing, which is why we can see all the way through the gaps between the tiles. Maybe when working without this 50x50 batten block the roofer found it difficult to persuade the unions to stay lodged in the apex of the angled tiles and they slipped down. Had they stayed put, the only clearly visible gap would be the thickness of the tile at the very top. Without the ridge battens in place the screws can only be biting into the original ridge board. That doesn't seem to be a strong fixing to me. There can't be much length of the screw available to enter the board. And we're talking about the edge of what must be a fairly ancient timber here.

There are 3 clips on each tile in those pics.
Jobs good.

We cant see what the roofer has fixed onto but the clips, ridge roll and gaskets are all fixed properly.
It wont leak but will come loose if not screwed down adequately.
There are different types of gasket as well, some sit flush with the ridge, others have spacers incorporated in them.

@Grust you do know that the batten is installed under the ridge roll don't you? Therefore you won't see it and you will still be able to see through the ridge tiles regardless

Clearly you have convinced yourself that it is not installed correctly and nothing any of us will say will convince you otherwise so I recommend you get the roofer back to explain how he installed it and to take you up on the roof to show you , if nothing else to give you peace of mind

Not at all sircerebus666. I've been impressed by your responses and I am very willing to be convinced. I'm just trying to understand what's happened and I appreciate all the responses here. The roofer is not available for discussing it at present but even so I have learnt a lot. Thanks.

I've got to stand corrected here, I've just looked at the pictures on my lap top, couldnt see them clearly on phone.
Makie is right, the gaskets look as though they haven't been pulled up tight between the ridges! If that is the case it could leak through time ...that's why you can see day light so easily.
Sorry Makie.
