Have just removed the plasterboard ceiling in a room that had coving fitted.

there is a gap hidden behind the coving where the wall plasterboard didnt meet the ceiling board.

i want to replace the ceiling board with new and have the whole room replastered.

whats the best course of action with the ceiling board? The max gap is 40mm

Are you saying there is a 40mm gap in wall plasterboard or in the ceiling plasterboard?

If ceiling plasterboard then simply butt up the new plasterboard to the wall plasterboard

Clear the plasterboard from the top of the wall so you can slide your new board in.

Screw a length of 40mm batten alongside the existing to take up the end of the board.
The existing ceiling will have been sheeted right through to the room next door before the wall was built.
