Broken bathroom door handle

Help needed!

Broken door handle mechanism.

Usually not an issue - unscrew handle, take out spindle, use biggest screwdriver to release catch.

But......its a lockable handle. Once screws are off, the handle is still secured through locking mechanism. To release this I need to be on the other side of the door.
Door frame prevents credit card / coat hanger method.

Any thoughts before breaking door / door frame?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Is that the vertical strip of wood to the left of the handle?

If not wanting to damage doorstop just the handle. Get a chisel under the bottom of the handle plate and lift it up. Most handles are cheap cast alloy and it should bend or snap. You can then grip the lock bar and unscrew.

Yes, replacement a few £ if you damage and you don’t have to destroy the handle.

I think the handle/lock bit might have had it anyway, so might try breaking that.

Am ignoring until Saturday for now!
