Replacing door handles

Hi so I want to replace all the door handles upstairs as none of them lock.
My basic understanding is that I would need to replace like for like otherwise they would need a carpenter to "make them fit into the doors and the frame".

Any tips? I think bought them from howdens originally.

They are terrible though for £35 each!

You need to establish why they dont lock, if you simply replace and the originals are not installed correctly you will have the same problem.

These bathroom/toilet door handles often fail and it helps to lightly grease the mechanism inside....fitting like for like means you won't need to drill new holes for the fixing screws. Hardly a major issue and there's no need to carve up the doors!

Thanks will try the grease, I don't have a Howdens account I doubt they will let me open an account. Perhaps I will walk into Wickes and see if they can match one up

I managed to buy one from Howdens so will compare it to the ones I have fitted!
