Good evening,

I have a couple of questions about a future DIY project.

I bought my grandads house from him a few years ago and I've been slowly renovating it. The house is now finished and all that is left to the sort is the adjoining brick outbuildings and garage.

Question is, can I replace the two doors that enter the brick outbuildings myself or do I need to go through buildings control etc etc. In a nutshell is the outbuilding under the same regulatory control as the main house?

It is bare brick single skin construction butted onto the end of the house. There is a new uPVC door at the boundary to the main house

Pictures attached. Thanks for your time!

You don't need to go through building control for replacement doors anyway.

But for reference, if the door from the outbuilding to the main house is kept as an external grade door, then the outbuilding is not strictly treated as part of the main house for many building regulations, but some may well still apply eg those related to fire safety, electrics and some others.

If you are just replacing the external doors to the 'outbuilding' and they aren't within 1m of a boundary
You don't need to go through building control for replacement doors anyway.
so just replace them with new external doors.
