Bootlace ferrule terminals - opinions on these please

Thank you @andy11. Since posting (I posted in the gas engineers section as well), I’ve looked at a few others. I spotted the Partex ones a while back, but then thought I needed a calibration certificate as well? Someone recommended the Knipex Installation pliers https://www.zoro.co.uk/shop/hand-tools/insulated-tools---pliers-and-cutters/chrome-plated-electrical-installation-plier-200mm/ps/ZT1194419X?utm_source=google&utm_campaign=pla+|+Hand Tools&utm_term=ZT1194419X&utm_medium=pla_css_2&mkwid=KUy2McpZ-dt&pcrid=377603093914&pkw=&pmt=&prodid=ZT1194419X&slid=&pgrid=
(EDIT:these pliers are) Ideal if all you want to do is botch the job

not sure if any good for the crimping?
No they are not but unfortunately people who use them are unaware of their shortcomings.
A few have said a cheap set from eBay, but I’m a little dubious about some eBay sellers and the quality of product. I’m thinking I may end up with the TLC or partex then.

In my opinion this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ratchet-...729451?hash=item2d07d1f86b:g:rWwAAOSwGVVeg6D7 is a good purchase, well under 1/2 price

DMC Barrel crimpers offer the best all round grip, often used on aircraft. You can use heat shrink sleeves for a pro finish.

Indeed absolutly beautiful product and comfortable to handle too. Perfect if you only use one size of ferrule, but fiddly having to remember to keep adjusting the size and 10 times the price of other items suitable for central heating systems.

I think it was one of their automatic crimpers I used once which worked like silk:
Cut the wire to length,
Stripped,
Applied the ferrule,
Crimped,
Did a pull test.

All on 2 squeezes of the handles and not a blemish on the wire. Pure heaven but the prices on the crimpers and the dedicated ferrules cartridges were well and truly out of my league.
