Stuck replacing toilet flush valve - help please!

Hi guys hope everyone is safe and well and busy doing DIY jobs around the house etc..

I've just tried to replace my toilet flush valve with a fluidmaster dual flush from screw fix. I've swapped the parts over in the cistern but come to a problem. The threaded pipe at the bottom of the new flush cylinder that comes out of the cistern is the same size as the pipe that goes into the back of the toilet. The old threaded pipe on the previous flush cylinder was wider and slotted over the flush connector pipe because it was wider (hope I'm making sense so far ).

So I've taken it all our of the cistern thinking I've got to return it all and get a flush system with the same measurements etc. Is there a way I can use the new flush system with the existing flush pipe? Can I use some sort of connector like a flush connector seal so I can just slot it over the bottom of the flush cyclinder and also the flush pipe? Thanks in advance.

Maybe fit a smaller flush pipe. How does the existing flush pipe fit into the WC bowl? Any photos?

That's probably because the fluidmaster is meant for a close couple pan and you are trying to fit it onto a low level arrangement so the pan has a flush pipe and not a donought arrangement... Its what it sounds like anyway... Got any photos?

So the pipe coming out of the toilet bowl is 2 in and the new fluid master threaded end is also 2 in. The old flush system had a threaded end slightly bigger than 2 in as in the pic.

Thanks for the quick replies, I think the flush valve option probably better as I don't want to start removing the pipe as well.. I'll have a search online for the flush valve.. I'll take the other back to screw fit.. So there's nothing I can just slot over both ends on the existing pipe and new flush valve like a connector?

This is the one I got.. I thought I would have been ok because it says in the description that it fits 1 1/2 and 2 inch outlets but I think that might just be for the rubber seal that fits to the threaded end. There was a 2 in rubber seal in the pack.

Thanks again. Can you provide a link to a 2 in flush valve. I've had a look and I get the Gerberit which might be the one I had before. Its over £40 though. The fluidmaster was about £17.

However it doesn't have a flush pipe nut and washer but your old one may fit, or not! Do you feel lucky!!

To get you out of trouble, you could use a 50mm Fernco coupling or heat the pipe up with a heat gun to stretch it out to fit.
