This can be a little misleading.
It is not saying that as many as half of all asymptomatic people are infected.
But without mass testing, it is not possible to know how many are infected, only estimates from small mass-testing experiments.

The reverse can also be argued. What is needed is mass antigen testing. If we know that the pandemic has been widespread and most people have it with mild to moderate symptoms then we can restart the economy.

There is as yet no proof that having had the virus, one is immune, or that if not immune, a second infection should be any less severe than the first.
