Yet another localised breakout but hey, let’s not say anything....

I wonder how many will attend Jack Charlton's funeral.
I understand that the limit in RoI is 20.

... But certain countries with supposedly better results, also have large numbers of people who’ve neither had their birth or death registered. So it’s reasonable to think that 1000s of Covid deaths may get missed
That does not apply to such countries as China, Vietnam, Philippines, etc where births and deaths are recorded.

Many thanks indeed for all the kind words regarding my Dad.

It was his birthday on the 7th May, he was born in 1928, so he was 92.
He retired in 1985, so had been retired 35 years.
Not many people manage that so I reckon he did pretty well :)

I'm clearing the house at the moment -which is a rather strange feeling.

Apologies for temporarily hijacting the thread.

Areas where the density of housing is greatest and thus less chance of isolation...

Are you saying that one family/household can't maintain a distance of 2 metres from others? Can the families/individuals not maintain a distance of 2 metres from each other when out and about? They're packed in tighter than I thought!

But maybe you could tell us why there are countries which have higher populations of 'certain cultures' but have lower rates of infection?

Maybe they're behind the curve. Western Europe was ahead initially, now we've dropped back and other countries are taking off. Maybe they follow the rules in their own countries. Who knows? But you virtually proved my point for me. It's what I was saying about certain races not having higher incidence of Covid because of genetic predisposition. Claiming genetics is obviously nonsense - because they have high incidence in their areas in UK, but their own countries don't have the numbers. Yet. If it was down to genes, everywhere they live would have the same high rates.

I would expect the lower numbers in such third world countries are entirely due to much worse levels of diagnosis and reporting. Even in the UK, diagnosis is far less than perfect, we can only come up with estimates of the numbers who have been infected and are infected, unless their symptoms need hospitalisation.

Same rule for everyone.

Same idiots ignoring the advice just like those Europeans on the beach in Barcelona.

Personally I think all this is playing into the governments hands.

They still believe in the herd immunity..

It's all about the science.

It's hard going through stuff imo, and I hope you'll be ok. Have you siblings to help? 92 is a good age, he must've lived a good healthy life :) My dad managed 75, smoked until he was 55, and still drank most days! He did get 20 years of retirement to have fun though :)

We've not managed to get to Cornwall to sort out dads house yet with lockdown but it's really life interrupted. He's had lots of little projects going on as dad liked to tinker - bits of stereo, speakers and watches waiting to be fixed and I found that sort of thing harder to see than I expected. Not even been able to pick up his ashes yet from his funeral on the 5th March. Not for the first time do I wish my parents stayed in Sussex!
