Hi

I have been boarding up my dormers with pink 12.5mm boards.

On front dormer the boards span to centre dormer rafters. Do I continue with seem in middle or do I make more work by adding 3 boards so the seems don't meet.

Regards

doesn’t make any difference.
as long as the edges rest on timbers.

how about on stud wall. Do you hang vertically or horizontally?

either, depends on the wall. and what board sizes work best

This is at an angle. Ceiling above staircase.

Is this joint OK as there is a bit of a gap.

Or should I have done a mitre joint. Bit more difficult.

it’s not great but will be fine when taped and skimmed. you could fill it out before skimming.

I've had dormers and gable wall built on my semi. Do I use pink plasterboard on Ceilings on first floor. I have used pink in dormer and around steel beam. Also put firedoors in too. Thanks

if you are now using the loft space as a living space you can do but they are much dearer and heavier.
building regs may insist on it as well as fire doors with closers and a whole host of other stuff.

Bco says no need. Just use normal boards.
But I'm sure I read somewhere you need to.

i think its only essential in hmos.
go with their recommendation.
although the latest conversion i did bc insisted on fireboard on 1st floor with fire doors closers and wired in alarms.

Done the wired alarms. Thanks for your help

Fire resistance won't be required to the dormer unless on or close to a boundary, self closers are not required any more in domestic situations apart from internal garages and doors to flats opening into protected corridors, stairs etc

That must be fun gating fire board upto dormers. That stuff is heavy

Fire board cannot be insisted upon, only periods of fire resistance, however this may mean additional or thicker boards will be required if using ordinary boards.

In most domestic situations you need 30minutes fire resistance apart from the roof members, how you achieve this is up to you, you do not have to use fireline boards
