Door panel replacement

Hi folks,

I’m trying to replace the lower panel in my pvc door for a solid one into which I can place a cat flap.

The door has no manufacturer or model sticker and I’m having real issues trying to remove the rubber strips that hold the panel in.

Can anyone advise what make and model the door is and if it’s even possible?

Glass companies (i would avoid Glazing companies though) can make sealed double glazed units with a cat flap hole and you can buy circular cat flaps to fit them too. You could also specify dark or coloured glass too...

yes my thoughts exactly
do you have any visible screws where the top middle and bottom rails are on each side ??
in general without beading a door needs to be disassembled to add another sort off panel

Thanks a lot for getting back to me. Yeah it looks like you are right. There is a plastic sleeve on the edge of the door that slides up. I can't slide it all the way up to expose the screw just now as it hits the ceiling.

Is there a way for me to measure the thickness of the panel accurately without removing or do I need to take the door apart? How hard a task is that to do?

It's an aluminum door, it uses wrap around gasket, the door needs stripping down fully to remove the glass units, the c shaped gasket surrounds the edge of the glass and the aluminum sections are thumped over the gasket. The usual thickness of the unit is 24mm overall but be careful here, its defo a 16mm spacer bar but if it's using 2 bits of 6mm glass then that could make it a 28mm unit but from experience these monarch doors were never 28mm, I think it will be a 4/16/4 = 24mm unit
