Large format tiles

I’ve just put this on Tiling forum but it’s very seldom used!
Right.. I’m an experienced plumber/ heating engineer.
An architect customer of mine wants me to renovate a shower room in there offices. The room (small & narrow) is 2.2m long x .9 wide & 2.5 high. Door at one end, shower tray at other.
She wants all walls covered in white glass. A real pain in the xxxx.
I REALLY don’t want to use glass.
She doesn’t want panels, said they look cheap. Doesn’t want tiles either.
I’ve used 3m x1m large format porcelain before. I think they might work but even they are hard work.
Other than that, anyone got any ideas please?

Do what the customer wants, otherwise they'll moan.
White glass?
If she likes it, why not?
Get it cut to size by a glass merchant and carry on.

Wouldn't fancy doing all the drilling for the shower, screen and accessories. Porcelain would be bad enough, thirty quid for a drill bit that will do a dozen holes before dulling.

The trend for big format tiles on walls or floor is a nightmare.

Even just doing those 600 x 600 rectified edge tiles are a nightmare. Screed has to be 100% flat, no room for error at all.....you can't have a bumb at all.

How the hell do you do 3m x 1m porcelain tile....

What white glass would that be? Is that satin which is laminated with a white interleaf or painted?

Glass is a lot softer than porcelain.
A diamond drill bit goes through glass like a hot knife in butter.

I didn't know that, never tried drilling glass.

Johnny, the glass has to be toughened so any holes , shaping etc had to be done prior to toughening.you can’t drill or shape toughened glass. You can’t use normal glass in domestic or commercial situations. Have you ever been in someone’s house & noticed glass spashbacks cracked by the hob or kettle? Coz it ain’t been toughened. Trouble is, I’m one of those people who wake up at 3am planning things through in my head a thousand times.
Glass has got to be to the millimetre. Plus it’ll be low iron glass which doesn’t get that green tinge. I just can’t be assed with the arrangements any more. Large format are amazing but can cost £300.00 psqm to fit.

Also Notch, the 1000mm x 3000mm tiles are only 5mm thick so you have to have a frame with suckers on just to move them around.

A big fragile sheet in a small room, that has holes which plumbing pokes through.

Toughened glass is very strong on the face, but the catching the edge on something can make them blow.

Stuff of nightmares.

What contingency do you put on the price? - I would want a few £k built in so I wasn't out of pocket if a sheet got broke.
