Hello,

I've tiled my bathroom walls in large format tiles in a brick pattern (600x400).

Even if i use the same floor tiles the grout joints can only match up along two walls, due to the way i've planned the other two walls...i.e tiles planned around a shower on one wall..

I now have some 300x300 floor tiles but I'm not sure what the 'norm' is with matching up grout joints...

Do i just tile from the room centre square from the wall....?

Or do i do a diagonal tile pattern whcih means it doesn't look like i've even tried to line up any grout joints?

thanks

OG

Brick weave can work well especially in larger rooms; large tiles in small rooms I’m not so sure about. Matching wall/floor grout lines on more than two walls can be tricky & nigh on impossible using different size tiles, as you’ve discovered. I avoid it unless forced into it & just tile to get the balance right on the walls & floors (i.e. usually from centre outwards), not worrying too much if the grout lines match up or not; it looks fine & most won’t even notice it. In fact where grout lines all match up I think it can often look rather odd & conjure strange optical illusions in your brain! You could do the floor diagonal pattern I suppose but, again, I think simple usually looks best; if you have too much pattern going on in a room, it can look odd IMO.

Lay tiles out dry in differant patterns....get the wife in and she will tell you what she wants... ;)
