How deep should a concrete base be for brick steps ?

Hi I want to build a set of steps from brick. Profile attached. forty five bricks in total. Nine bricks wide. Sizes are mm

How deep should a concrete base go into garden soil.

Someone on this site claims to build entire houses on 200mm concrete.
By that same standard, half inch should be enough...

It depends what sort of substrate you have and what you're going to use the step for.

Strip foundations can be 200mm thick and have a house built on them (depending on exact conditions)

chapter 4.4 is nothing to do with strip foundation. link?

You need to remove the topsoil layer, and a bit of the next layer. So it's not so much about dimensions or if it's a step or a wall.

Topsoil is typically about 200-250 deep.
