Hey guys,

Purchased some blinds to install myself into the window reveal. My house is a 2015 build that I believe has concrete lintels. When I moved in I had vertical blinds installed and the brackets are fitted using just these self-tappers (see image). I recall trying to drill into the mantel myself one time and making a horlicks.

Are these self tappers just screwed in or are the holes predrilled?

It's likely a catnic.

Metal lintel not pcc (precast concrete)
Decent self tappers will do the job.

You'll need a sharp or new metal bit, and a slow speed.

Sometimes the bit will wonder because part of the lintel underside is perforated before it's solid, so the drill needs to be steadied.

Can't you fix to the reveals instead, and then with just a small clip in the centre fixed only to the plasterboard?

Thanks for that.

Use orbix screws, they'll do what you need them to do. (y)

Edit: often better to fix a batten to underside of reveal using self tappers then screw blind to that.
