Do you have to drain down the heating system before checking and pumping up the expansion vessel? Mine was 0.5 bar when I checked it which is manufacturer recommendation, so I did not have to do anything just pumped it a tiny bit, to compensate for the loss when I disconnected. I checked mine when the system was cold and not drained down, good enough?

On a combi what is an acceptable upper pressure reading when the heating is on? Mine goes from 0.6 stone cold (manufacturer recommends 0.7) to 1.3 when heating is on.

Yes, it should be pumped up with no pressure in the system and a drain open somewhere to vent the water out as you pump it up.

No you dont need to drain the whole system, but you do need to open a drain point and leave it open as you oressurise the vessel

Ahhh, kind of makes sense. Much more sense than what I did.

What about upper pressure showing 1.3 when in use? I suppose if it was over pressured it would vent out anyway.
