How on earth are you meant to install Win 10 these days ?

I had a free upgrade from win 7

I'm looking to buy an SSD.

Do I buy an SSD with win10 preinstalled ?

Thanks

thanks.

looking in control panel is says I have a 32 bit OS, but x64 based processor
I guess its already running it slowly, as I running the wrong OS :cautious:

A 32-bit O/S will only support 4GB RAM. If you have (or intend to install) more than 4GB, you need to install the 64-bit O/S. Changing from 32 to 64-bit requires a complete, clean install. I would suggest downloading the 64-bit from Micro$oft's website and following the instructions to put it on a bootable USB stick.

Download from here then use your Win7 product key. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10ISO

I had to ring MS to reenable the old code, which was recycled from an old hard drive

Windows 10 can have digital product keys.
I created a microsoft account linked to a phone number.

It seams to be happy, somehow. Probably won't be in 30 days !

MS site says:
If you got Windows 10 by...
Upgrading to Windows 10 for free from an eligible device running a genuine copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1

Activation method
Digital license
If you associated or signed onto a Microsoft Account or associated your MSA with your digital license, that will be your MSA containing the digital license.
