Stuck trying to replace a bulb holder

The MK is out of stock in my local Screwfix and I need to wait 48 hrs for it to arrive.
Will the British general one be alright to use?

This is what the new holder looks like with two white wires of it's won.

I am presuming this is how I am going to wire it. ( The instructions included was useless ) But, where do the white cables go ?

Sir Bernard, this hasn't quite worked.
The light stays on now regardless of the switch being ON or OFF.

You may have fried the switch , earlier, when you caused a dead short when you tripped the breaker.

Nope.
Here is what it looks like:

check the power in the switch,

if it is 'off' only 1 of the wires should be live

if both are live and the switch is in the off position the switch is faulty

Well, I unscrewed the faceplate and screwed it back and it's now working as expected.
