Vokera Linea 24 - No Error Code - No Hot Water - Intermittent

Hello,


I have a Vokera Linea 24 boiler. At times the boiler starts up, makes some noises for about 10 seconds or so, then stops. I believe this is an overrun cycle. Recently the unit has developed an intermittent issue where by the unit starts up, makes some noises, but does not stop: the temperature drops from 40/50/60 degrees (depending upon the setting on the front panel), to around 10/12 degrees. There are no fault codes. Turning on a hot water tap or adjusting the central heating thermostat does not change this – I just get cold water. To stop this cycle and get hot water again I have to turn the HW/CW/OFF control to OFF (at which point the burner ignites – and then turn the control back to either HW or CH/HW.

I have had an engineer visit twice: a new pressure release valve and new thermistors for both the how water and central heating have been fitted. The instances of the issue have reduced, but still occur.

Can anyone suggest what the cause might be?

Get an engineer who does not throw parts at the boiler but will attempt to fix it. For goodness sake there is a fault present, how difficult is that to find. If your last guy cannot look up a flow chart or use a multimeter to locate the defect, I do not know who to blame, you for calling him an engineer and him calling himself a professional

Good boilers but been around along time..Do not waste your money mending it.

Initially I intended to replace the boiler, and have had a quote from the gas supplier - Manx Gas. I live in a flat and my boiler is in my hallway, but the flue has to run around 4 - 5 meters in order to exit the building. I am told that legislation requires a certain gradient drop back to the boiler, but due to the height of the space between my ceiling and the flat before, the required drop and pipe diameters, there is not enough room for almost all modern boilers. I have been told - anecdotally - that there is a boiler that fits, but have not been able to find out the model yet.

Manx Gas will move the boiler to the outside wall and pipes run back to the space in the cupboard where the gas enters the flat, but the cost is around £7000. This includes all work, the cost of the boiler, 5 years servicing, 10 year guarantee, making good any rendering etc, and boarding in the pipes. A direct replacement would be about £2500, including 10 year guarantee and 5 years servicing (from Manx Gas), but for the reasons above I cannot have this option. £4500 seems high to move the boiler from one room to another. This is why I am trying to repair the boiler.

If you happen to know of a boiler that will directly replace mine - and can be legally installed, given the restrictions, I'm all ears

your boiler is easily repairable , there is a member on here @Daveylad66 who is on the island he might be able to help you out or suggest someone who he recommends, there was a Vokera agent in Ramsey nigel Goldsmith but not sure if he is still an agent for them, your boiler is very noisey and doesnt sound as if it has been properly serviced for a long time

It is Century Court. Nigel Goldsmith has serviced the boiler for a number of years, and it's Nigel that fitted the replacement thermistors. I'm waiting to hear back from Nigel regarding alternative boiler options, but I've not had any issues in the last week or so not in so much of a hurry at the moment.

I'd still like to find out which boilers could replace the current one. Not all flats have the same restrictions: my neighbour above has had an Ariston CLAS HE EVO boiler fitted, but I don't know if that flat has the same restrictions. I'll contact the company that fitted it for him.

Are you familiar with Century Court, and the restrictions with complying with the legislation?

There is a 3 way lever valve at the bottom right of the boiler, it will be at the 12 oclock position, put the boiler selector to CH and HW, run a hw tap and the second that the boiler flame cuts out, turn that lever to the 9 0clock position, the digital display will change as soon as you do, come back and tell us what number it changes to
