Hi, Sorry, bit of a dumb one. Please see the pic... Anyone know how I get access to the washer without destroying the tap (washer has perished)! Thought first part would be to remove what looks like a cap on top of the tap but that doesn't seem to budge when i get a knife blade behind it. Any help much appreciated.. Cheers

Does the cap not unscrew? Might be wedded on with grime so be a bit stiff to unscrew, hold the body of the tap head with grips (use cloth so you don’t damage the tap ) then unscrew cap with another pair of grips

Remove one or all of the four handles to reveal grubscrew(s) to release the top.

Thanks... cap off it was the screw type... My problems not over though... Please see the pic... Any idea how i expose the tap cylinder? Cheers

There are two styles of cover, one simply pushes in place, the other screws down. The former should just pull up and away, if not use a bit of wood as a lever. The latter type probably needs a good grip on it to get it turning - a rubber strap wrench will help with that. At a pinch I have doubled up strong string, winding the open end round it first, then put a screwdriver as a lever through the loop. The more you pull, the tighter it should grip, if you have wound the string on properly.

Thanks all! Got it off and repaired tap. What did we ever do before the internet. Cheers
