The 'schools giving jabs' thrust has become a bit convoluted. The 'though the night' idea has some merit, but the only group I can imagine able to help are the military medics. And there's nowhere near as many of them as people think.

I think we have enough medical staff to do it- but it means someone taking decisions on what services to shift staff from to do the vaccinations. Just asking medical staff to do it in addition won't work.

The long list unfortunately has more to do with not being open to legal issues, and complying with insurance liability and negligence. It's more a tick box exercise to ensure someone doesnt turn around with a shyster lawyer saying well I didn't receive fire safety training so I was exposed etc.
If you want to blame anyone - blame the litigant licking lawyers.

If we work on the assumption the vaccine/s are going to do what they say on the tin, let's be honest, this whole thing will remain a bit of a clusterf**k until a sufficient number of the population have been vaccinated. I'm not saying they (government) have an easy task to manage, far from it, however there's an element of trying to appease as many of us as possible with the ever-changing guidelines and rules they impose, and it's not working. To an extent they're damned if they do and if they don't. Quite a few people moaned when schools were shut and kids were home-schooled. 'A lost generation to education' ... 'severe lack of provision of IT devices to deprived families' ... 'kids becoming more introverted due to lack of social interaction' etc etc. I'm not debating whether these assertions are correct, simply stating what was reported and widely spoken about. I think this has informed the government approach of 'we need to keep schools physically open (almost) no matter what' however they're also damned for this approach due to the potential risks it imposes to teachers, kids and families of.
This situation is the same not just within schools but across universities and workplaces in general. In reality, what was and still is required is a full lockdown for everyone and all bar essential services until we're vaccinated. However that approach doesn't work either due to personal and society-wide economic and mental/physical health implications. Because, intentionally or otherwise, we have some people not adhering to the basic rules (distance, masks etc) we're in a vicious circle with all of this until a scientific solution (vaccine) is implemented. To this day we see reported daily stories of people flouting the rules on a small and large scale.
So as I say, if the jab works, this situation will go on and on until most of us have had it.
p.s. there's also a lot of extreme selfishness going on. Because some don't believe covid is real at all, they therefore think it acceptable to flout the guidelines and rules. e.g. story I read yesterday of 2 women (Trump supporters wearing maga caps, say no more) who refused to wear masks on a flight. Result? The captain had to instruct everyone to get off until the women could be dealt with by the authorities. Flight delayed, 100+ people inconvenienced, all thanks to 2 idiots who refused to wear a mask for however long the (US internal) flight was. My sister was in the supermarket the other day and 4 adults came in, not wearing masks, laughing and joking. Staff approached them re why not wearing masks. Initially they were reluctant to put them on, however staff said 'you'll be asked to leave if you don't.' The 2 women and 1 man looked a bit sheepish and pulled masks out of their pockets and put them on. The remaining man said 'I don't have mine on me' and the staff member said 'well remember for next time.' Tbh I think he should have been asked to leave. However staff member probably trying to dissipate the situation and avoid further tension.
In short, many of us are ****s and until we're jabbed the clusterf**k will continue.
