Head lights on this car are really yellow.
Would like to convert to bright white (LED?).
Any advice on bulbs and fitting etc most welcome.

I don't think aftermarket LED headlight bulbs are legal. Certainly after market HID's on their own aren't.

I see, I was just going on some advice in Google re. the LEDs.
Can you recommend a "legal" bright white light then please?

Last time I looked at the mot regs, there was nothing about led's, only HID's although any decent retailer will tell you whether they are road legal. All the LED headlamp bulbs sold by Halfords are described as 'not road legal' although 'road legal' and the mot testing requirements are not necessarily the same thing. A car can legally pass the mot test whilst still being not road legal!

Try Osram.
They do different colour temperature which goes from warm to cool.

Have tried Autoglym, no different.
I do notice that some oncoming cars have "yellow" headlights while others have "brilliant" white. There must surely be a choice of these different bulbs out there somewhere!
This car is only 4 years old.

Have just come across a post elsewhere regarding these bulbs. Apparently "bright ones" were an extra on the new car (@£220), seems rather a lot but this included all lights apparently.
Would be interested to hear from any-one having these from new otl. I only want the heads!

Back in 2009 when I had just bought a new Golf, I wanted to get better bulbs for it. I carried out a test of uprated H7 bulbs using the MOT headlamp test equipment. I only tested the road legal ones. Bear in mind that this was 10 years ago and the prices were trade prices excluding VAT. I won’t show you them all, just the cheapest and the most expensive. If you look on the machine, you’ll see the actual light output which shows that the most expensive were the least effective and the cheapest were the best. All the others fell in between. The standard bulbs at just under £4 a pair gave a reading of 48.

Phillips extreme £29.16 a pair plus vat.

Ring extreme £9.99 a pair plus vat.
