The advice at that time and which was relative to the original posters question in that specific post was about removing the case on a boiler where the outer case creates the room seal. It was only discussed to ensure that the OP's boiler would be left safe and wouldn't have been possibly dangerous to the occupants, if there had been an issue. The reason there was a lengthy discussion was over whether the boiler in question was actually room sealed by the outer case or not, it turned out it was.Careful asking such questions here.

Tightening should be as tight as you can get them with your fingers ( if the nuts are free spinning) and then a nip up, it's a 'feel' thing. Shouldn't need to be ratcheted up. If you re-pressurise and there's a weep then give it another little nip up. Just makes sure the faces of the connections are clean.Before I start how much should I tighten fitting when using the fibre washers?
