Definitely no general consensus. 99% of dampness I have investigated can be resolved without damp proof injection. In 25 years of old house renovation and general refurbishment works I have never specified it - except on a few occasions when clients or lenders insisted on it, and I was satisfied it wouldn't do any harm.
