Razzler..? WTF Is going on with you?
So you do accept that empires were created simply to satisfy greed, the pursuit of wealth, power and influence?
There was some religious fervour reasons as well. Probably doesn't explain the first crusades against the Muslims. But, for now, let's discount the religious pursuit of who's God is the true God.

Now that you accept that empires were created out of pursuit of wealth, etc, with all the associated atrocities that ensued in that pursuit.
How can they possibly considered to be good, or beneficial to the indigenous population.
I suppose you think the aborigines in Australia benefit from the immigration of white settlers?

"""Among the surprising findings is that most of the Caribbean’s original inhabitants may have been wiped out by South American newcomers a thousand years before the Spanish invasion that began in 1492.""
As said Razzler...how far back do you want to go ..Your answer ..not interested..You just blame everything EVER on British colonialism...Past present and forever.

Your imagination has moved into overdrive, and you're drooling in your fetid stupor.

The outcome after 400 years is the memory of the atrocities committed by these empires.
So by your logic, every government of any sort (which can only have risen to power in pursuit of wealth, power or influence) leaves only the memory of the atrocities that occurred in the process and are ultimately evil. You must live in a very dark and depressing world where you see only repression at every turn.

By your same definition, the EU commission must also be evil. Or are they somehow an exception to your definition?

You might not have noticed, but we're discussing the creation of empires.

Empires are the amalgamation of countries. Countries are the amalgamation of fiefdoms. The only significant difference is size.
Empires are usually considered to be the domination of other countries by one country.
A colonial empire is a collective of territories (often called colonies ), either contiguous with the imperial center or located overseas, settled by the population of a certain state and governed by that state.

The principle remains the same. Empires were usually subjugated by military or economic pressure. Fiefdoms were usually subjugated in the same way to form countries.
