French Colonial Empire.Good or Bad?

The principle remains the same. Empires were usually subjugated by military or economic pressure. Fiefdoms were usually subjugated in the same way to form countries.
Not that I am agreeing with your supposed definition of empires, what do you think is the driving force for one country to subjugate the people of another country, and pillage its natural resources?

Empires are a fact if life, better to have your own empire than be a part of someone else's.

The Ottoman empire specialised in white slavery, maybe the Turks should apologise.

So you do accept that empires were created simply to satisfy greed, the pursuit of wealth, power and influence?
There was some religious fervour reasons as well. Probably doesn't explain the first crusades against the Muslims. But, for now, let's discount the religious pursuit of who's God is the true God.

Now that you accept that empires were created out of pursuit of wealth, etc, with all the associated atrocities that ensued in that pursuit.
How can they possibly considered to be good, or beneficial to the indigenous population.
I suppose you think the aborigines in Australia benefit from the immigration of white settlers?

By jove I do believe you're getting it.
The creation of all empires was driven by greed.
Even the intervention of missionaries could not have occurred until the people had been subjugated and the land being pillaged.

Correction, The Ottoman Empire weren't too bothered about the colour of slave's skins, as long as they weren't Muslim.
Over 1 million white slaves shows they were bothered.
Anyway the point is that slavery wasn't the sole preserve of white Europeans.

The moors raided Cornwall for slaves

it’s reckoned some thing in the region if 40000 were taken

Any way as for our friends the French

York, in England, also has a shameful history.

Who is this man, with his friend and supporter, the owner of the Daily Mail?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, even Churchill had nice things to say about Hitler in the beginning.
Quote.
As late as September, 1937, Churchill was praising Hitler's domestic achievements. In an article published in The Evening Standard after praising Germany's achievements in the First World War he wrote: "One may dislike Hitler’s system and yet admire his patriotic achievement. If our country were defeated I hope we should find a champion as indomitable to restore our courage and lead us back to our place among the nations. I have on more than one occasion made my appeal in public that the Führer of Germany should now become the Hitler of peace." (

Churchill was hoping Hitler would attack Russia in the east while Japan would attack from the far east
Didn't turn out that way unfortunately.
