I'm guessing its been a while since @Bobby Dazzler used the NHS for free, as they routinely do check entitlements.
About twelve months. And they didn't ask for any proof of entitlement then.

If you are no longer an ordinary resident of the UK you aren't entitled to free NHS care. You may be entitled to emergency treatment under your EHIC. But that is limited.
If my UK EHIC card gives me access to free treatment in other countries, on what basis do you assume that British citizens are not entitled to free NHS care? I think you're claiming some thing as fact when you're only guessing.

I A lot of ex-pats do relocate to the UK for serious illness treatment as is their right, but claiming an address as your residence when it isn't could get you in to a lot of trouble.
Really?
UK licences, vehicle excise licence, some bank accounts, UK ISP and mobiles, etc can only be done with a UK address
Voting rights are based on your last UK address.
Many people have no fixed abode but use an address to accommodate postal requirements and other registrations, etc.

Simple, I'm not asked to prove my entitlement.
But as explained, if I was, and I did not qualify (how can I qualify for a EHIC to be used abroad, if I don't qualify for NHS treatment in UK? That would be a nonsense, don't you think?) I could have a French EHIC card, which would entitle me to NHS treatment in UK, which would be recharged to France, which would be recharged back to UK. I'm saving them the administrative paper chase and added costs.
I think you are mistaken in assuming that British citizens are not entitled to NHS treatment.
If a British citizen relocated back to the UK, they would not be denied NHS treatment. To whom would it be recharged back to?

Expat pensioners provide an S1 form from UK to submit to the tax authorities in their settled country to allow the settled country to recharge medical benefits, etc back to the UK.
I assume a similar arrangement applies to everyone who have paid into one national system, but then live in a different tax authority, into which they have not paid.
Except, because I am employed in France, I am paying into the system.

If I did want to use friends or relatives address, it would be perfectly normal. Many do use such addresses for convenience, e.g bank accounts, ISP registrations, vehicle registrations, licence registrations, phone registrations, etc.
There are many things in life that require an address in the country of its origin.
Bobby Dazzler..Dislikes every aspect of the UK...past.present future...but quite Happy to use the NHS..Twists about it...as usual...but more than happy to benefit...From abroad.

And posts quotes from a Newspaper that employed editors that are anti UK & IRA supporting.

As do most ex-pats! Ask Portsmouth Hospital just how many people come off the ferry and straight to the A&E dept.

EHIC - covers emergency treatment in another country only.
Free NHS covers everything. Once you have settled in another country permanently you are not entitled to continue using the UK EHIC (unless its issued under S1)
The Offence is Fraud.

The right to use the NHS is based on residency not citizenship. Nothing stops you moving back to the UK to get treatment.

He can use his UK EHIC if he has the S1, but that is not for routine NHS treatment.

Using a false address...Making out you live in a property you do not.In a country you do not live in.Find me the legislation that allows that.
No Mr Plod.
You have no authority to request it.
For the sake of discussion, I did not claim it was legal, motorbiking and you claim it is illegal, you prove that.
