It's interesting to see the Muslim men on here putting women in their place. Next they'll be wondering what all the fuss is about regards FGM and why daughters, nieces aren't locked safely away from prying eyes until they say it's ok and leave the house to marry a man of their choice.

It caused quite a stir on screwfix and became obvious that a lot of posters post on both sites.
Those posters were very vociferous in their defence of racism on DIYnot. There were a few racist comments and a lot of abusive comments made which screwfix quickly deleted.
Screwfix's reaction to potentially offensive comments is admirable. They are quickly deleted, as are any potentially offensive videos.
It produces a culture of almost proactive anti-racism because posters know that potentially offensive posts will be deleted, so very few offensive posts are posted. But I did attract a few abusive posts. I guess there's always going to be some that will defend racism.
You have noticed that that thread remains, so what comments remain in that thread are considered not to be offensive. Some offensive and abusive comments were deleted, but none of mine were deleted.

There is another element to Screwfix locking the discussion, some posters are unable to contain themselves, so now that the thread is locked, they are prevented from venting their anger with offensive or abusive comments.

Our Labour run Council got a court injunction banning any travellers from setting up camp in our town.
