this is what happens when you **** off huge economic powers.

Brexit is starting to hurt, was chatting to a British manufacturer today who admitted that things are looking really bleak, and nothing to do with covid, Brexit is causing them a lot of problems.

Time our government started working on diplomacy and rebuilding some of the bridges that the Brexit party / Farage burnt down to get us out. Our own government are to blame for our predicament, not anybody else.

Brexit hasn't got anything to with jersey, the UK are responsible for the defence of jersey, otherwise they completely self govern. Jersey is not part of the UK.

From Wikipedia

Jersey is a self-governing parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy, with its own financial, legal and judicial systems,[6] and the power of self-determination.[16] The island has a separate relationship with the Crown than the other Crown dependencies and the Lieutenant Governor represents the Queen there. Jersey is not part of the United Kingdom,[17] and has an international identity separate from that of the UK,[18] but the UK is constitutionally responsible for the defence of Jersey.[19

Doris said he was going to break international law by unilaterally giving businesses in Northern Ireland more time adapt to post-Brexit rules. Seems like he goes out of his way to play fast and loose with agreements. It's not just a long line of women who know he can't be trusted.

The article says "It is claimed that the UK government is using red tape to limit the operations of French fishing vessels, in contravention of the trade and cooperation agreement struck with the EU on Christmas Eve." - that agreement would not have been put in place without Brexit, surely?

The UK doesn't control Jersey....

The report also states that the government have given the license to those that filled in the form correctly and are deemed as eligible. Around 85 vessels.

so what are we talking about then, if not the article that was shared in the first post? #confused

Anyone remember plucky Britain when they said they wouldn't recognise the EU Ambassador status? Well that was for the papers and show, as now it seems we will recognise him. That will garner little press.

This again more posturing for the press and papers and to mould public opinion. Quietly we will compromise and the public won't know and by then won't care. It's mass population manipulation with the help of the client media.

Jersey are implementing additional controls not previously mentioned in any Agreements.

They have taken a lead from Boris and implementing conditions not mentioned in any Agreements.

If UK and its BOTs don't recognise or keep to Agreements why should anyone else?
Boris is blaming Jersey, but he knows full well he has a great deal of influence.
Jersey did not sign the Agreement, Boris did.

As part of the agreement both parties agreed that on issues such as this neither could change rules unilaterally, which we just did. We broke our promise / agreement once again.
I thought the opposite. I thought that the agreement gave both parties the right to change the rules unilaterally, but that the agreement also gave explicit rights to both parties to apply tariffs in the event in the event that one party makes a unilateral change that the other doesn't agree with.

The other party has to be informed. If it is not then the aggreived party can apply a form of restitution. This doesn't apply to all issues but on certain ones.

Is that the point that you're making? That we made a unilateral change without informing the french?
