The French .... Again.. poor jersey

Is that the point that you're making? That we made a unilateral change without informing the french?
It's not just the French, the TCA is with EU.
It's not just informing, it's agreeing any changes.
As Sir Galahad said, if it's just informing without agreement, restitution can be applied.

The French fishermen are refusing to provide all of the required information to obtain a licence. The trade deal states that to obtain a licence the French fishermen need to provide evidence of the amount of fishing they have done and where. The French are guilty of 'overfishing' hence the reluctance to provide evidence.

The TCA states no such thing. That's newly required information dreamed up by Jersey.
Jersey are insisting on the French providing information over and above that which is required by the TCA.
French fishermen are refusing to provide the newly added required information until it is required by the proper processes.

It doesn't matter anyway, the forms won't be easy to read in the dark.

External Relations Minister Ian Gorst said a "misunderstanding" over a new licensing system had led to the row.
French Maritime Minister Annick Girardin threatened "retaliatory measures" over the new licensing regime for fishing in Jersey's waters.
The row emerged over a new licensing system for French fishing vessels introduced by the Government of Jersey under the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA).
The government argued the permits must "correspond to the previous activity a vessel has carried out in Jersey waters" under the terms of the TCA and its new system was "in line with the data submitted by the French and EU authorities".
A spokeswoman said it took French complaints over the terms of the licensing agreement "very seriously" and would respond, but argued it had acted in "good faith" setting up the regime.
French authorities said "new technical measures" for fishing off the Channel Islands had not been communicated to the EU, rendering them "null and void".
Representatives from Normandy have closed their office in St Helier in protest of "inexplicable conditions" in the new scheme, which had been introduced "against all expectations".
These include caps on the number of fishing days for different vessels, restrictions on gear and the closure of fishing areas.

Jersey have issued 41 licences and 14 are pending, plenty more will be issued if the applicants are prepared to submit the required information. If they're not prepared to do that, they don't get a licence.

Jersey Electricity:

Following enquiries from our customers regarding the French fishing dispute, JE can reassure customers that in the unlikely event electricity supplies from France are disrupted, La Collette Power Station and Queens’ Road has capacity to supply Jersey’s electricity requirements.

Fingers crossed that the French don’t pull the plug during the first week of July or that will be another holiday lost!

The French havnt got the balls, their all bluster and spreading poop in the tabloids, they have no real substance

this is what happens when you **** off huge economic powers.

Brexit is starting to hurt, was chatting to a British manufacturer today who admitted that things are looking really bleak, and nothing to do with covid, Brexit is causing them a lot of problems.

Time our government started working on diplomacy and rebuilding some of the bridges that the Brexit party / Farage burnt down to get us out. Our own government are to blame for our predicament, not anybody else.

You should go on live at the Apollo you certainly gave me a good laugh ! Huge economic powers !!!!! Really so who are they ? Most of the Eu goes cap in hand for money ...very few who are contributors. Poland was told to start paying in rather than taking out.

France has massive unrest you don't read that much in the press odd,y enough.

I thought the funniest bit was

'talking to a British manufacturer who admitted things are looking really bleak'.

I know, the detail gave us no way we could argue the point. Fair play DJ, your post regarding the “manufacturer” was very .......... thorough.

Good old Duellingbanjos, great entertainment.

Well done brexiteers...

Turning back the clock to the 'gunboat diplomacy' era

I'd have thought the lesson would have been learned during the 'cod wars'...

'Britannia' doesn't rule the waves anymore!

If a country declares war against you, you don't just roll over. French excluded natch.
