The government committed in 2019 to legislation that would introduce a new right to request predictable working hours, make flexible working the default, and create a new, single enforcement agency to police labour market rules.

Here are the Government's proposals outlined in the Queen's Speech:

Much like all governments then, change there mind once they've got the public vote, then say the manifesto is just a possibility piece and not what we promise.

No they didnt, they just lied.

In fact they had such a solid track record of lying that anybody who protests that those who voted for them in any election or referendum in which they blatantly lied must not be called stupid is left with dealing with the inescapable conclusion that the voters wanted the promises to be lies.

So much for 'taking back control'...

More like taking back the 'right' to be controlled!

The best outcome for workers is that the goverment will create the conditions for the creation of lots of high paid jobs.
The low wage business models promoted by the government in order to reduce unemployment are not sustainable.

Because of cuts, companies can expect a visit from the minimum-wage inspector about once every 250 years.

Two things flow from that.
  1. Public-sector jobs also have to be high paid in order to be able to attract competent people
  2. If you want these lots of people in high paid jobs to enjoy the fruits of their labour, and not live in a self-imposed miserly way, you need benefits to increase so that people who have created lifestyles commensurate with their high pay do not become homeless etc if they lose their job.

OK with those?
