Magnetic filter on new build?

I've recently moved into a new build house with an Ideal Logic combo ESP1 boiler with the heating piped throughout in plastic 10mm. There is no magnetic filter fitted, is this an issue or are they only fitted on older systems?

It would be hard to retro fit one as all the plumbing (including under the boiler) is behind dry lining.
Cheers.

They certainly aren't fitted to new builds, which are built at the lowest possible cost to the developer. It makes no financial sense for them to for a filter to a boiler & system that only carries a 2 year warranty anyway. If it fills with sludge and breaks down in its 25th month, it's not their problem

So from that response do I get the impression that its recommended to have one fitted?

Is it common for a brand new system to get filled with sludge within 25 months?

The water passages in modern boilers are much smaller than they used to be, so they are easily blocked with rust from radiators on the inside. Putting inhibitor in the system helps, but a magnetic filter is obviously still well worth having, even on a new system. Can you even be sure the penny pinching installers actually fitted inhibitor?

It protects both the boiler and the radiators from rusting out. My rads are near 40 years old, always maintained by me, always with inhibitor and no leaks.

I thought there was a 2006 regulation that all new boilers had to have a magnetic filter fitted-so how do New Builds get away from doing that?

Do you have to tell your boiler service person to add Rust inhibitor every service? As I’ve never been asked about having it added.

Boiler service, is a boiler only service - which is where inhibitor tends to be forgotten/ignored, unless you specifically ask for it - which is why so many systems end up choked with rust. Hence the many questions on here.

You're technically supposed to have a water quality test every year as part of the service, and this will determine what if anything needs to be done to the system water

So many new(ish) builds I go, the system is filthy. Was at one last week, same as yours, Logic Combi - house is 5 years old - leaking pump AAV, all rads Type 11 in 10mm, system water black as night. Dodgy 2 port valve too.

Found a fibre washer and an O-right that was left in the case so the pump's been off previously too. Really is quite shocking, there really should be a min system standard that the developers should be sticking too. It's asked for in the benchmark (flush to BS and Inhibitor used) but so many aren't completed by the developers installers.

Have you checked with your neighbours if they have had a magnetic filter fitted by the developers?

Linden Homes never fitted magnetic filter to boiler.
I have an FOS complaint against Nhbc as Rust inhibitor never added to the boiler system & 5 radiators now have holes from rusting from inside out.
Nhbc trying to get out of this saying boiler has a limited warranty.

That is appalling!

Yeah, only get 2 years on the heating system in a new build.

That’s not my complaint. My complaint is the plumber tested the water in my radiators & there was no trace of Rust inhibitor in the water.
Linden homes said in black & white print my heating system had Rust & frost inhibitor put in it. Wrong
