Hi folks,

Fresh home owner here and DIYer who is trying to save some cash

I built a path at the fron of my house but now I need to fill the gap between my path and the existing concrere driveway. I know it will be difficult to match the colour but I would like to at least try to get similar look. The house is from 1955, so I guess the driveway must be similar age.

Here it is:

I think it has pea gravel in it, but I am not sure what mix to use. 1:2:4 (cement:pea gravel:sand) or different ratio?

Thanks for advice :)

My limited experience with concrete suggests a match will not be easy. When you tamp and smooth it down, the pebble will naturally go below the surface, so I would be looking to..... Tamping, smoothing and allowing it to partially set up, then scatter some suitable sized pebbles over the surface and partially tamping them in.

It sounds to me like you want an Exposed Aggregate finish to match old, worn concrete.

This can be done by hosing and brushing the surface after initial set. Try a goggle search for videos.

Edit
Too slow!
