Hi all my heating comes on with hot water.

I replaced the 3 port (whole unit) valve 5 weeks ago anf everything worked fine. A week later my pump went and boiler was over heating.

So I replaced the pump, all working fine.

Today the heating comes on with water again. However no light comes on the programmer for heating.

What's causing the heating to come on with water? Can it possibly be the valve playing up again or is this a pcb issue?

Cheers in advance.

What boiler do you have ? worcester ri by any chance ?

Hi many thanks for your reply.

It's a vaillant ecotec 438 since 2009. Never had any problems with it so far.

The motorised valve was also replaced around 2010. And pump was replaced 3 years ago. As well as 4 weeks ago.

Honeywell 3 port valves have a problem with some boilers that have pump overrun built into their pcb, a snubber capacitor can be fitted between the neutral and orange wires but it has to be done before the valve pcb is damaged, it could be something else but as you have already changed the valve it sounds likely this is the problem.

Which capacitor would this be?

But why in 10 years this has only started to happen now? Beggers belief!!
