When swapping a 3 port valve. Is the wiring to the wiring centre likely to be different. I.e different colours doing different jobs? Unless can get the same make of valve? Thanks

As there are only 5 wires, 2 of which are neutral and earth, if there is no changeover instruction chart with the new valve, it is easily deduced with a little googl0ing. Mostly colours are similar.
What valves are you changing from and to?

Thanks I need to have another look at the valve it had a yellow plastic head on it. Not sure if there is only one brand that has this. It's about 20years old.

If it is yellow it is probably made by EPH, if it is these hav a small removeable plug in the valve itself so best if you get the same again and use the plug, no wiring needed , post a pic of the valve

Thanks have these valves been around awhile? Will it be 20 years old. I will get a picture.

It's on an open vented system. Would there but much hope of swapping this by bunging the open vent an feed pipe to create an airlock. Have never tried it before.

yes you can do it that way, just be aware that not all valves have the same thread and some you need to cut the olives off if replacing with a different brand

This is the valve any ideas if they still make this model.

How do I know if the new EPH one will have the same actuator? Would I need to email the manufactures?

You will need a 3 port valve head, as opposed to a 2 port.

Yep as already said it is an old EPH just get the same actuator, no need to drain anything , and no need for any rewiring

Actuators almost always have to match the water valve - if you swap actuator, then you will almost certainly have to drain the system down and swap out the valve too.
