I have an exposed shower mixer to fit on to pipes that exit the wall at 150mm centres all seems good. I just wondered after fitting there is no way of telling if the nut and olive is leaking at the back. Only the front of the nut is visible after fitting. Is this a concern?

Wrap a bit of PTFE tape around the olive before tightning it, ive never had one leak

OOI - is it made out of actual metal?
Thanks I don't think I'll be able to get in to wrap any around the olive if I tighten up then remove.

In that case wrap the olive in a couple of turns of ptfe tape before connecting it onto pipework

OK - its just in the photo it looks like at least some of it is that horrible "chrome plated" plastic.
