The news on Afghan TV

Whilst reading the news the news reader had 2 armed taliban fighters behind him :ROFLMAO:

good incentive for him not to get the message wrong :ROFLMAO:

The only good thing about the taliban is that they are anti-vaccine and anti-mask.

Maybe they can rule the country better - it didn't take them long to take back control, they must be pretty well organised and equipped. The more recent images have shown that they are not wild desert men with AK47s any more, but a well equipped army.

Maybe time to try to gently bring them into the fold. Sanctions then encourage them to be more moderate in return for trade.

I heard a year or two ago that there was a worldwide shortage of medical morphine and diamorphine because of an underlying shortage of legal opium.

All sorts of theories as to how that happened. Lots of powerful countries want to see trouble for the US and its western allies.

A risk that all bullies face is the arrival of a bigger one.

but a well equipped army.

being well equiped does nothing to influence the way they will treat people they do not like. In recent history there was a very well equiped army that treated a few million people as Untermenschen ( sub-humans )

of course not. My point only is that for a while the press has portrayed them as rebels in caves with AK47s, rather than a proper military threat.
Goes to show what a good job the GB and US troops were doing to keep them down.

But the question now is, if we're not going to support a puppet regime with our military, what do we do? We can't ignore the problem.
Sanctions and diplomacy has to be the way ahead.
