Setting digital programmer

Is anyone a pro at setting salus digital programmers. There's is 6 programs to set a day. But what if you only want it to come on twice a day.

Don't know this programmer, but I would set the on/off times for the unwanted programs to be the same for each program.

So kind of just make enough programmes up so it will off. Outside the required times. Seems strange to be tighed to 6 programs a day of not needed.

Dunno if it's the same logic as my old Randall- when you've set one on and one off, see what happens (on setting the next event) when you press DOWN (on the hours) til it gets to zero, then try pressing DOWN again. On the Randall you get a - in the display & the step does nowt (you may have to do minutes as well)

I was thinking of changing the frost setting from 5c to 10c does that sound ok?

on my Honeywell, the holiday setting just does "don't change the temperature setting for x days"

so it returns to normal programme on, or the day before, you come home.

You can Up or Down the set temperature once it is in holiday mode, and it will not change until x days have passed.

IIRC the "unoccupied house" home insurance policy says 12C minimum. It's very cheap to maintain, because in UK it is rare to have long continuous periods very cold, night and day, with no sunlight to give solar gain through the windows.

Check your home insurance. Pretty sure they will also have an advice booklet or webpage on winter protection

I found 12C pretty good. House dry and comfortable, did not feel chilly when you went in. (This was a second home)

There's is 6 programs to set a day. But what if you only want it to come on twice a day.

For 'on' twice a day I set it as follows

06.00. 20 C
08.30. 10 C
12.00. 10 C
13.00. 10 C
17.00. 20 C
23.00. 10 C

That shows that it is aiming for 20 C from 6am untill 8.30 am.

And aiming for 20 C from 5pm until 11pm.

At all other times (for example between 11pm and 6am) it is aiming for 10 C (ie off unless very cold).

You could set the 11pm one to be 14 C so that at night (between 11pm and 6am) it never gets too cold. Like this

This also works well to start warming house on cold night a little before I actually wake up.

Note that the times have to increase one after another in each programme slot otherwise it can fail to work properly.

I have seen it crash when it is programmed like this.

Each time in the next slot has to be greater than the time in the last slot.
Might not be possible to make this mistake on yours, but on some it is.

Ps write it in paper first - makes it easier to consider options and to programme. And to remember what you programmed in the previous day.
