There's a very real prospect that by this time next week we will once again be sending our troops off to fight in a war that has very little to do with what you think it does.

Before you all turn into masters of Russian politics, professors of east european history & suddenly develop a 4* Generals knowledge of battle tactics, I'd just like you to remember that you heard this here first.

Biden is good, Putin is bad.

Another figment..

No Western country will send any forces to fight against Russia as a result of a Russian incursion into Eastern Ukraine. It would take a serious escalation or an incident directly between Russia and NATO to even tempt that. There's too much at stake and both parties understand that. Any involvement we do have is limited to sanctions, ditching Russian assets and - as we've seen - providing small numbers of defensive weapons which is nothing new.

There will be no war as you suggest. My bet is that by this time next week, the media will still be talking of the 100,000 Russian troops (hundreds of miles from the Ukrainian border) and there'll have been no incursion into Ukraine. Longer term, any flare up of tensions would be something like what we saw between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Separately, I have an element of respect for Putin and much of what he has done to turn Russia around from the state it was in in 2000.

There is the very real risk of war. All the chest expanding & flexing of the biceps has been done. Your MSM is currently buttering you up with all the stories of how Biden is good, Putin is bad.

This has been brewing for quite a time. Putin is bad & he MUST now show just how far he's prepared to take it. Biden is good, but if you think he's in control of what's happening here then you more cuckoo'la'la than he is.

Biden is good & Putin is bad. I don't think grabbing a bit of territory will satisfy him anymore, he won't want the burden, he'll want it all or nothing.

That's fair enough if that's your honest assessment of things, but I disagree. Some of the stories on the movement of men and machinery are hyped up, and when you look at the very recent history of manoeuvers like them, it all looks fairly routine. The war games happen every year from both NATO and Russia, yet they rarely get public coverage. Remember the scare the media put out there in the Spring of 2021? All the talk of war they gave us then, and the painting of Putin as a war-monger?

Biden is an older man with clear signs of the onset of dementia. The Ruskies and the Chinese will surely love that.

Ultimately, we're all just numbers and none of us know for sure!

If it does all kick off, prepare to lose at least all internet & mobile comms for a few days. If the power goes off then gather your family close in the shelter.

I just don't necessarily see Putin as the villain in this, his main demand is that NATO stop massing weapons near the Russian border, something he's been demanding for 20 years, doesn't seem an unreasonable request tbh.

It's no different to when JFK asked the Russkies to refrain from putting nuclear cruise missiles on Cuba. Of course JFK did take over Cuba via a CIA sponsored uprising prior to that but Che and Fidel promptly had a counter revolution and took back control of Cuba, all except for Guantanamo Bay, a port of strategic importance to the yanks and a handy place for practising 'enhanced interrogation techniques'. Russia did eventually back down on that one and the US held onto Guantanamo claiming rights from a much earlier 'lease agreement'.
The US still send an annual cheque for leasing Guantanamo, they all sat in Fidel Castro's drawer, uncashed, all except for one that got cashed by mistake.

Guantanamo Bay, Sevastopol, different names, different parts of the world, same thing though.

...from a self-taught master of Russian politics and a professor of East European history with a 4* Generals knowledge of battle tactics.

Just look at the facts. A minor war has been going on between the 2 countries via proxies for Russia since 2014.
Only last night a tv news crew sent a report from the Ukraine side of the border with moderate gun fire in the background. According to the front line soldier, "this goes on all of the time." Another stated there will not be an invasion.

Worst case scenario as I see it is the proxies take over the war, torn area of Donbas.

Thanfully nothing more will happen other than peace will break out. The USA will do naff all and Germany has already distanced it's self from the conflict by stopping RAF fly over Germany when taking over a few weapons.

The UK, very foolishly and as equally dangerously announced a couple of weeks ago that it would not get involved.

The locals loose out every time and at times pay with their lives and most pay by losing their hom/land/work.

The inbreds could easily resolve this by declaring Ukraine would never join NATO and the clown in Russian would then back off especially if
he was told that any invasion no matter how small would result in him, his close family, his supporters in the military and business will have their assets frozen, that will make them see the light. Sadly, teh western world does not have the balls, or most likely not have the will to upset rich friends.

Trust me if Putins and lackys accounts all assests were fronzen in the western world, they's soon change their tune.

Armagedden is on the horizon :)

As for the cuban missile crisis . what type of fruitcake would station pershing missiles in Turkey on the Russian border ??? Hmmm

Er oh yes that Fruit cake JFK

The cuban caper was in response to those missiles , and the russians only agreed to remove there missiles from Cuba after the USA agreed to
remove there missiles from Turkey

which the USA did (quietly) a few months later ;)

Ukraine should never have handed back there nukes to the Russians

Er oh yes that Fruit cake JFK
JFK was a democrat.
Biden has only been in power for a year and already he is talking about war.
Biden is a democrat.
Trump warned that the democrats would try to start a war with the Russians.
Hilary wanted to take on the Russians in Syria.
What is it with these democrat politicians and the Russians.
