Hi DIY forum users

My toilet cistern, which must be about 20 years old (I've just moved into this house) has stopped refilling. I've tried adjusting the overfill screw with no luck. Attached are some pictures of the system I have and I just wondered if any of you may know how I can fix it. I've just tied up the lever with string to stop it running water pointlessly. The lid of the tank has these figures engraved - 7792-00 DIN19 KIWA6 - my google search returned nothing.

Many Thanks in advance for your attention and possible help.

Paul

Never seen one fitted like that. It's a side entry inlet but interesting how the water pipe is inside cistern. Best get a new inlet and fit. Can replace rubber but not easy to find the correct one and they don't always seat correctly.

I often fit both syphon and inlet just so it's good for another 10 years.

Think that toilet came from B&Q as I have same one

Thank you both so much! I've ordered your recommendation Andy and will keep calm and plumb on!

Hi there - I've fitted the valve recommended above (see photos attached) and whilst it seems a fine fit the problem of my cistern not refilling persists. I guess it is the flush system parts that need changing - perhaps a job for a professional, but if you think it is doable and recognise the parts I need to buy, I'd like to give this project a second go. Any ideas or suggestions very much appreciated.

The water is on? there is water coming through pipe?
It's a simple float valve

In his first post he says "I've just tied up the lever with string to stop it running water pointlessly."

But now has no water? Has he turned the green knob back on?

Andy

Thank you all for your help. Andy - I've ordered the new flush system as I suspect it is broken and that is why the cistern is still not filling when I turn the green knob back on. We'll see. If this still doesn't work I'll call in a proper plumber - at least he shouldn't have to charge me for parts then! :) Thanks for identifying the parts for me. I wouldn't have had a clue.
