According to NATO rules a country that has internal conflict problems can not join. Most admit they are a long way off being able to join. Putin knows that.

I'd not read that but I have read that 'border disputes' preclude NATO membership, that pretty much permanently bans Ukraine from joining.
How many did go back?, I know there were 6 million applications for settled status.

I honestly don't know. A report followed some who had. A number who would be welcomed. The message that came out of it is that they feel displaced in their own country. The other aspect about employment prospects improving there - without actual numbers pass. Covid is also thought to have caused people to return.
There are figures on settlement around but it doesn't really show net effect on population. Nothing seems to actually. Guardian 1m, others a few hundred k.
