Kitchen Extractor Replacement

The diameter of the blades is 130mm and as you may see from the image, there is a plastic film attached blocking off incoming air. Fitted on a north facing wall, the kitchen was so cold in the winter months that I decided to remove the fuse and block off incoming air. We will do the same with the new unit. However, should we decide to downsize then the new unit will be recommissioned ready for any survey.View attachment 268153
Have you considered using a fan with motorized louvres or iris to stop draughts when not in use?

Agree on the not painting, however as an aside, something I've seen on the internet is the groups who collect classic computers appear to have some methods for reversing the yellowing of plastics, from what I remember it seemed to involve a a sodium hydroxide paste and exposure to UV, retro-brite I believe is the term to google. Im not saying its worth the time on this fan, but its interetsing that it works at all
This is something being done to "restore" plastic products, essentially it is bleach which does indeed manage to lighten the browning plastic but it does nothing to repair the breaking down of the material. The final result depends on the composition of the "plastic", as an example I saw it done on a white telephone, the main body turned out well but the handset and the grey buttons felt rough and left a deposit on ones hands and the leads went soft and sticky then dissintegrated.

You got in before I could post.
Plastic objects, such as the "grill" shown, can be "bleached".
Other items, including that which may be a "lamp" in the first picture, may be "problematic"

I didn’t know such a thing was available. Can you give me a link to a motorised louvres unit which would/could replace the existing one?
