Hands up, I've judge them here and like you said, I've never been in one.

The one in town near a place I worked at, I'd cross the road as those peering out or hanging outside it were to me best avoided.

Like all pubs, there's good, bad and indifferent. Some Wetherspoons are in scuzzy areas and attract n'erdowells. Ones in reasonable areas or those in central areas with large numbers of students and office workers tend to have much fewer fearful oiks.

Went to one in Ilfracombe few years ago and it was just holidaymakers and a few locals in there. Find a decent one and you'll not regret it.

The area I was in was a town centre in London but it had a jobcentre about 5 mins wlak and council offices a couple of mins walk if that
