Rcd tripping

Woke up today to no hot water that’s when I realised there’s an issue. I’m a gas engineer first thing I did was to check the boiler side and there was no power.

Rcd had tripped. After a few hours again it’s done it and now again after 4 hours it’s done jt again. I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s going on. Any ideas or pointers in the right direction? As my fridge freezer is connected and I’m worried over night it will turn off and cause a lot more issues

The sockets kitchen was down and also the blue socket which I don’t know what it is

Unplug your Washing machine and Dishwasher? Have you any sockets or even lighting near places that get damp?

Removed a piece of my post didn't realise the blue lever was part of the RCD on my original view *inserts Red Face Smilie"

The blue MCB could just be a spare?
No dishwasher at the moment. And the washing machine hasn’t been used. I think it could be spare

Blue socket ? What are you referring to Ricky786 ??

Yes the blue levers. One of them went down too. It don’t happen all the time it happens intermittently

What boiler Ricky? Try unplugging the pump if a Combi.

If on a regular basis then looking for some thing which happens on a timed basis, I would suspect the frost free freezer as it goes into the defrost cycle.

Unplugging anything which is not being used rather than using the on/off switch may help, and for items you can't unplug like the fridge/freezer plug into a circuit supplied by a different RCD and see if fault swaps to other RCD.

Note refrigeration compressors have a large in-rush on start, and if the volt drop is excessive it can trip the motor overload, so use as short and largest thickness of cable for and extension lead being used to power it.

I have unplugged everything now including the boiler and left the fridge freezer connected. It does not happen all the time it happens after every 4 hours or so

Just now had everything disconnected apart from fridge freezer and washing machine. After 4 hours it’s now tripped again, both levers were down the kitchen sockets and the blue one. After flicking the blue one back up the fridge freezer came back on and started to work ?

Yes. You have a faulty device or circuit. You need some real test gear to determine which....

In the absence of test gear, have you got a long extension cable- if yes then plug the fridge into- oh that's annoying, what idiot configured that CU. Usual deal is split house- downstairs power and upstairs light on one RCD, upstairs power and downstairs light on the other.
So, test gear it is then- PAT would reveal a duff appliance, if they're all good then start checking the power circuit. As above, first suspects always outside lights, outside sockets, garage/shed items

The only thing that was connected last night was fridge and washing machine. Boiler was off completely from plug (people saying it’s the boiler) but now it hasn’t gone off since 12 last night. I have re connected some plugs back in but nothing has tripped.

Unplug the washing machine altogether and plug fridge freezer via extension lead into a socket not on the kitchen circuit.
