So, I am not good with anything diy but after the loss of my cat in February 2021, I found that keeping busy helps with the deep depression that I was already suffering a bit better I put together an outdoor preparation/cooking area for my bbq. Then my second cat died in October 2021 and having 3 cats left and being put on max anti depressants, I decided that I will try and do more diy work, but I am lacking many tools or the skill to use them.
So, I built a circular saw guide, using L shape aluminium 2.4m lengths and a bit of MDF and now I can cut straight lines.
I brought a mitre saw (non sliding - for safety) replacement drill and screw bits that were broken from a set of my mums and with her experience, I have built a couple of things that seem to turn out okay. Even though it takes me months to do one job (I am disabled autistic, and I tend to start many jobs but realise pain and damaged body won’t let me do much, so I go to next job after a few days recovery)
I am just finishing building a keepsake box for my niece and hope she likes it and keeps it forever. I will try and send pictures later of every I have done on a different post.
Other than that as a problem building stuff is also money, the ability to get out and get parts, not alone wood.
But here is what I plan to make for my sister as she brought her first house last year.
An in ground bird house that will have enough space for at least 2 bird/squirrel feeding areas, a comfy home for a few birds and somewhere I can put a bowl for birds to drink or bath. No idea where I will get that bowl.
It needs to be ready by 9th September, and suitable for birds and wildlife that can be found here in the south England (Solent area). I don’t know anything about wildlife. So I don’t know what type of thing I need to design and build.
Can anyone help advise me on everything… from design to wildlife around the area?
