How would I go about fixing this tap handle? It moves around a lot. I took the circle little screw cover off at the back. There was a hexagon screw port and I tried to tighten it but it doesn’t move
Some of these have a plastic insert in them, that's the part that has the splines in it and the tap head then grub screws onto that. If the plastic insert has stripped then it'll never tighten. Loosen it and take the tap head off and have a look.

A few hours ago I turned the tap on and it wouldn’t turn off. The handle becoming loose didn’t help.
Managed to use the tool and unscrew it. Took the handle off and had to use a spanner to twist it to turn it off. Installed it back on and again the water stays on and the handle just twists. So had to repeat the spanner step on.
Has the white plastic tube (shown in the picture gone faulty)? I think its not gripping the metal properly so when you put the handle on its not getting the full force

It usually happens when the 1/4 turn valve start to tighten after long term use or when people are heavy handed when turning the tap off, eventually the inside of the plastic sleeve/adapter strips = no more grip.
