Does this look like asbestos?

Hi all,

I was hoping I could get some thoughts about the ceiling in this airing cupboard. I'm suspecting possible Artex based off its appearance and the building's age.

The area in the lefthand corner looks uneven and different. I remember that corner looking patchy when I first moved in quite a few years ago, but it doesn't seem to have got worse.

I was thinking of getting the ceiling tested for asbestos, but I don't want to disturb it in case it is that. Should I be concerned?

Last asbestos I seen in artex was 1988-1990.
Don't think any contained asbestos after that and banned in 2000.
Maybe if that's an airing cupboard ceiling it was done from new. When was house built?

Yes that will likely be asbestos. If it's still owned by the council, they will have records of it.

It will be chrysotile, in the coating, and it will be relatively low content.

Yeah. Get it tested. Probably is and a early one.

If you remove light fitting in ceiling and it's plasterboard behind then artexed from new.
If artex behind again from new. Probably

If plaster behind fitting over the board then artex was done at later date.

After it's been tested, should it be encapsulated with a paint spray?
